This morning the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) released their FAS-FAX report covering the past six months ending September 2009. The numbers show an average decline in circulation of 10.6% for the dailies (Monday - Friday) and 7.4% for Sunday circulation.

This morning the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) released their FAS-FAX report covering the past six months ending September 2009. The numbers show an average decline in circulation of 10.6% for the dailies (Monday - Friday) and 7.4% for Sunday circulation.

Local area news papers faired differently with The San Francisco Chronicle seeing the largest overall drop of 25.82% for daily and over 22% for Sunday circulation. The Oakland Tribune was fifth among those newspapers that saw the largest increase in both print and online audiences with a 8.35% increase in their combined audience.

This report comes after recent layoff announcements at The New York Times of 100 positions in its newsroom, layoffs at Conde Nast properties like Glamour, Wired, Lucky,Style.com, Bon Appetit, Details and the announcement that the November issue of Gourmet Magazine would be its last.
